How many companies and banks with branches in the United States?
I wondered how many banks are in the United States of America. With I mean how many banking companies exist and how many bank branches and sites coexist in America.
There are 8195 banks in the U.S. with FDIC insurance (which should cover almost all banks operating from a location of branch). Among them, 1200 are considered as savings institutions (juvenile, the technical difference). Some of these banks are owned by companies from the same farm. An example is the Wells Fargo Corporation, which owns four banks (Wells Fargo Bank, Wachovia Bank, Charlotte, Wachovia Bank, Wachovia Bank Las Vegas-Houston). I have a number of branches of all banks, but must be more than 100,000 locations.
