F1 student: Resident or non-resident alien ?
Hi,
I am a Student in the US on a F1 visa. I wanted to invest in stocks so i wanted to setup a brokerage account with Bank of America. But the BOA representative asked me if i am a resident alien or a non-resident alien. How to know which one i am ?
what does “resident” here means ? that i am inside the US or outside OR does it have something to do with Green card ? I don’t have any green card. I have a platinium credit card from Bank of america though
Also BOA only allows accounts for US citizens and resident aliens. So if i am non-resident alien, can you suggest me some good brokerage company that allows account for non-resident aliens?
