IM DEPOSITING A $4950 AT BANK OF AMERICAS. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CLEAR?
I JUST OPENED AN ACCOUNT ABOUT 2 WEKKS AGO. TOMORROW IS SUNDAY AND I WANT TO DEPOSIT A CHECK THROUGH THE ATM IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,950. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR ME TO HAVE FUNDS AVAILABLE? CAN I TAKE OUT MONEY FROM THE ATM AFTER 8PM? THEN CAN I TAKE OUT THE REST MONDAY MORNING?
You have a new account and a check of just under $5,000. The bank will most likely put an extended hold on the funds to be sure the check is good.
It’s almost a guarantee that you cannot withdraw that amount of cash at the ATM. You would need to go inside and see a teller.
You don’t say what this check is but you should use extreme caution. Contact the bank it is drawn on to see if it is good. If possible, go to the bank it is drawn on to cash it.
And if the party who gave you this check is telling you have to send any part of it back to them, it is a scam. The check is no good. Do not try to negotiate it. Cease all contact with whoever sent you the check. If you don’t, you will be in a great deal of trouble when the check is returned as you will owe your bank whatever cash you took out.
