cd accounts
explanation on how CD accounts and high-interest counts really work??

i’m looking to start saving some money, but instead of having it generate a moderate interest in a regular bank, i was wondering how exactly a CD account or a high-interest account (like ING or some other equivalent) really works? how much more do you REALLY earn with the money in there?

i don’t know bank-terms or anything like that, so if someone could explain it to me simply?? thanks =)

There are a lot of online banks like ING, Emigrant Direct, etc. that are offering 5.00% and higher. Those are a pretty good idea.. The only draw back is that the funds are not available instantly. It usually takes a few days to transfer the money into your bank account.

CDs are a good idea if you want to put the money somewhere that’s earning a good interest rate and not touch it. Just forget it’s there! Most banks have a $500 or $1,000 minimum to open a CD. Just check out a few local banks’ websites to see what kind of interest they’re paying on CDs. Terms could range anywhere from 30 days to 5 years and beyond. It’s worth it to shop around because a lot of banks will have a special going on and will be offering a high rate to generate more business. At the end of the term you can choose to roll it over for another term or withdraw it, etc. You should be able to withdraw the interest at any time with no penalty.

All banks are going to charge a penalty for early withdraw. At the bank I work at the penalty is 1 month’s interest on any CD 1 year or less.. And 3 months interst penalty on anything over 1 year.

Just check out some banks online and find a good rate. You can go to the bank and get someone in customer service to explain it to you without committing to anything. Good luck!

Cash: Ultimate Gospel

Cash: Ultimate Gospel

$4.75

Gospel was what Johnny Cash, Luther Perkins, and Marshall Grant originally wanted to record when they auditioned for Sam Phillips in 1954. In 1958, Sun Records’ refusal to let Cash record a gospel album–despite his track record of hits–led him to leave for Columbia. This well-chosen package delineates sacred music’s ongoing role in Cash’s career, beginning with two 1970 performances from his ABC…
